#1 Anne Frank House

In the center of Amsterdam you will find the museum “Anne Frank House’. This museum tells a story about a Jewish girl who was hiding in the Secret Annex (Achterhuis) during World War II. Visit the place where the girl and her family hid from the Germans, this is very impressive.

#2 Rijksmuseum

This museum is the most visited museum in Amsterdam. The most popular artwork hanging in the Rijksmuseum is The Night Watch (de Nachtwacht), painted by Rembrandt. In total, the museum has more than 8,000 works of art on display.

#3 Vondelpark 

This is the largest and most famous park in Amsterdam. The inhabitants of the city love to sit in this park to enjoy the sun, exercise and walk. A very nice park to go to during your visit to Amsterdam!

#4 Central Station

Be sure to take a look at Amsterdam’s Central Station. This is located in the middle of the city and is a beautiful building. By the way, from here it is also easy to take the train to, for example, the Johan Cruijff Arena.

#5 Dam Square

The Dam is the centerpiece of the center of Amsterdam. It is a very busy square with, among other things, the pigeons that are special to tourists. On weekends there is often even more to do on Dam Square, with living statues performing, for example.

#6 Johan Cruijff Arena

This stadium is located just outside the city and is easily accessible by public transportation. It is the home of the largest soccer club in the Netherlands: Ajax. #7 Heineken Experience

Heineken is originally from Amsterdam. Visit the beer brand’s oldest brewery. The brewery is located in the city center, making it easy to get around. During your visit to the brewery you will learn more about the history of beer and how it is made!

Of course this cannot be missed during your visit to Amsterdam. Especially if you are a foreign tourist, you must have done this: take a bike ride through the city center. What is not so normal in other countries is quite common in the Netherlands. Everyone here cycles through the city, definitely a must do too.

#9 Royal Palace on Dam Square

On Dam Square you will also find the Royal Palace. This is one of the palaces of the King of the Netherlands, Willem-Alexander. Opposite the Royal Palace, the Remembrance of the Dead is also held every year on May 4, in memory of all the victims of World War II.
